PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reutilize universal wastes including waste rubbers and waste plastics by decomposing, gasifying or solidifying carbonized products thereof. PSOLUTION: The waste rubbers and waste plastics are put in through a crushing machine of the apparatus and are safely subjected to gas-phase chemical decomposition reactions by heat and -rays, generated by heating heat storage stones or mica in the decomposition chamber, and catalysts, and a plurality of pure substances are formed by means of a water-cooled condenser. As harmful substances are treated in a radiant tube helically coated with or equipped with calcium and intermittent discharge is carried out using a carbon electrode 18 in the inner flame of the flame from the burner, the apparatus is almost harmless to the environments. The wastes can be put in directly without using the crushing machine. The temperature gradient is caused to be very sharp downwards to prevent back flow of harmful gases that might occur otherwise. As the decomposition chamber is formed into a bread plate shape and is hollow and the decomposition is carried out as mentioned above, intermittent or continuous operations can be freely selected.
