PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart fairness to an electronized lottery executed via a communication path.;SOLUTION: This lottery method has a calculation processing function calculating a numerical sequence corresponding to a variable value X according to a combination of a fixed value S and the variable value X. In the lottery method, the fixed value S is kept secret during a lottery application period, an identification number of a lottery applicant is assigned to the variable value X, the fixed value S is disclosed after the lottery application period ends, the numerical sequence is calculated according to the identification number of the lottery applicant and the fixed value S, and a prizewinner is determined according to order of the numerical sequence. Because the fixed value S and the identification numbers of all lottery applicants are announced after the lottery application period ends, any of the applicants can calculate the numerical sequence corresponding to the identification numbers of all the applicants, and the fairness of the lottery can be confirmed after the fact.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
