The retractable lens has optical elements positioned on a common optical axis (Z1) to constitute a photographing optical system when retractable lens is in a ready-to-photograph position. One optical element is moved to a removed position outside of the common optical axis. The removed element and one of remaining optical elements are moved rearward respectively, when the system is in retracted position.
