PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a consistency verification support method for a disk device capable of verifying consistency of data in a disk array device without consuming an interface zone in a disk device. PSOLUTION: Computing for data verification is divided into first step computing operable even in the disk device and second step computing operable only inside the disk array device. In a first step, computing is carried out in the following procedure. Data are read from a storage medium in a step 113, a stored intermediate result of computing is read in a step 114, computing is carried out by using the two sets of data in a step 115, and a computing result is stored as a new intermediate result in a step 116.
