PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously obtain the amount of gap in a rail and the temperature at the lower portion of the rail with one operation at each measuring point.;SOLUTION: At the reference point of a rail, a measuring block is pressed to a rail head section and a rail bottom section to measure a temperature t1 at the head section of the rail and the temperature t2 at the bottom section of the rail for obtaining the temperature difference Δt.
