PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holography image pickup device which picks up the image of a hologram having high quality by making a visual field variable and utilizing an image pickup element having relatively low space resolution and a holography display device which enables display by decreasing the distortions to the original image from the hologram formed by image pickup with this holography image pickup device. ;SOLUTION: When a wavelength is defined as λ, image pickup resolution as p and the focal length of an imaging optical element 110 as (f), a diaphragm 210 having an opening 211 of a diameter of ≤λf/p is arranged at the front side focal plane of this imaging optical system 110 by an interlocking means 270. The object light via the opening 211 is imaged by the imaging optical system 110. The object light and reference light via the imaging optical system 110 are interfered with each other and the image of the interference fringes is picked up. The hologram picked up in such a manner is subjected to the image reconstruction of the object to be picked up by adopting the imaging optical system equal to the imaging optical system 110 at the time of the image pickup and setting the position relation between the formed hologram and the imaging optical system according to the positional relation of the imaging optical system 110 at the time of the image pickup and the image pickup plane 410.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
