PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for enhancing voice intelligibility in voice network communication such as VoIP (Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol) if there are packets arriving too late to be ordinarily reproduced.;SOLUTION: When a delayed voice packet is received by a voice decoder, that packet and following one or more multiple additional packets, as needed, are reproduced in a shorter time than a standard required time so that the decoder can "catch up" an encoder. Since a voice frame is ordinarily decoded by several sub frames (ordinarily by two or three sub frames), such shortened reproduction can be realized by skipping one sub frame from each of frames to be shortened.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
