PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost (manufacturing cost and maintenance cost) of a regulating wheel by improving a centerless grinding technique.;SOLUTION: A workpiece 3 of a small diameter is supported by a blade 5 and a shoe 7 as shown in Fig. (B). In the blade 5 and the shoe 7, comb teeth-shaped irregularities are provided on a "surfaces in contact with the workpiece 3 to support the workpiece" and are combined not to be in contact with each other. An ultrasonic piezoelectric element 8 is mounted on the shoe 7 with a comb teeth-shaped groove to elliptically vibrate the shoe 7 in an ultrasonic cycle. As a result, the workpiece 3 is rotated. Centerless grinding is performed by bringing an non-illustrated grinding wheel into contact with the rotating workpiece 3.
