PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly reliable inverter performing stabilized control by suppressing oscillation in motor torque and current through simple arrangement and control thereby preventing step-out, and to provide a small and highly reliable compressor driver and chiller/air conditioner. PSOLUTION: A microcomputer 7 for controlling an inverter circuit 2 converting DC power into AC power detects the phase difference between AC voltage and AC current and calculates a duty reference value dependent on the error between the information of AC voltage/AC current phase difference thus detected and target phase difference information. Furthermore, oscillation component of AC current is detected and correction amount of r.p.m. of a synchronous motor 1 is calculated based on the oscillation component. Based on sine wave data dependent on the duty reference value thus calculated and a corrected r.p.m. command value, a PWM waveform signal is formed and delivered to the inverter circuit 2.
