PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of GC processes for an entire heap area by increasing the efficiency of using memory.;SOLUTION: A generational garbage collection method that manages objects existing within the heap area, by dividing the heap area into an old-generation area and a new-generation area, includes an object creation step for creating objects within the new-generation area; a new-generation garbage collection step for implementing a garbage collection process on the new-generation area when the amount of objects created within the new-generation area reaches a predetermined amount; an old-generation partial area extraction step for extracting at least a portion of the old-generation area; and an old-generation partial garbage collection step for implementing a garbage collection process on the at least a portion of the old-generation area extracted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
