PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information extracting method for a structured document database which permits fuzzy retrieval using a retrieval condition including the specification of a fuzzy document structure.;SOLUTION: This device is equipped with an extracting means which regards as an object to be processed a specified constitution element of a structured document stored in a structured document database having a hierarchically-made logical structure for storing structured documents having different document structures and extracts a structured document having at least one constitution element from objects to be processed, and a storage means which stores the structured document extracted by the extracting means in the structured document database; and the rule for the conversion of information that the extracting means should extract into a structured document is stored in the structured document database and the conversion rule specified for the object to be processed is used to extract the structured document having at least one constitution element from the objects to be processed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
