PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To predict the function part of protein from which genome analysis and CDNA analysis can be obtained and whose function is unknown by calculating the appearing frequency of respective amino acid residues contained in oligopeptide having a length of the partial array of protein and predicting the degree of the responsibility of the respective amino acid residues for the function of protein with the value of appearing frequency as an index. SOLUTION: The appearing frequency of respective amino acid residues and the appearing frequency of respective oligopeptide obtained by combining the respective amino acid residues and extending lengths in order are obtained, and the length (n) of oligipeptide is decided. The value of a monotonous decrease function value or a monotonous increase function value Zj is set to be the function representative value of the j-th amino acid residue in an amino acid array (length is L). The respective Zj values of all amino acid residues in the positions of n+1=j=L-n in the amino acid array (length is L) are obtained. Thus, the responsibility degree of the respective amino acid residues with respect to the function of protein is predicted with the size of the Zj value as the index.
