PURPOSE: To obtain an anticancer agent for hormonal therapy capable of more strongly inhibiting growth of sex hormone depending cancer cells derived from established human cell line than medroxyprogesterone and tamoxifen in a lower dose than these of the latter two comprising a dienoigest as an effective component. ;CONSTITUTION: An anticancer agent for hormonal therapy comprising dienogest expressed by the formula, i.e., 17α-cyanomethyl-17 β-hydroxy-estera-4,9 (10)- dien-3-one or its solvent adduct as an effective component. It is preferably useful as a treating agent for sex hormone depending cancer, ulterine cancer and mammary cancer. This anticancer agent has little adverse effect owing to its very low dosage and is can be administered for a long period of time without anxiety owing to its effectiveness at small quantity.
