PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct the tilt of the projection screen of a projection type image display device without deteriorating image quality. PSOLUTION: The projection type image display device is equipped with a tilt correcting means. The tilt correcting means has a means for projecting a fixed line fixed in the projection type image display device 1 by a projection part 11, an angle sensor 21 for detecting the tilt of the projection type image display device 1 to gravitational field, and a means for projecting a correction line in accordance with the detected tilt by the projection part 11. By superposing the fixed line and the correction line and projecting them to a screen 2, the top and bottom and the right and left installation angles of the projection type image display device 1 can be adjusted.
