PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for replacing cutter bits for a shield machine safely and easily executable at a low cost in a short time.;SOLUTION: The cutter bits 19 are supported in a string to a support rail 21 continuously formed from the front face of a rotary cutter 7 at the front end of the shield machine to the inside of the machine, and new cutter bits are added from the inside of the machine. The cutter bit at the terminal end of the support rail 21 is thereby pushed out in the outer peripheral direction and successively replaced with the new cutter bit.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
