PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element analyzing method which enables a marked enhancement in measuring precision.;SOLUTION: A sample containing an element to be measured is subjected to multivalent ionization by a multivalent ionization source, and the multivalent ion valency distribution spectrum and/or mass spectrum showing the total ionizing spectrum of a multivalent ionized element is measured by a mass analyzer and the element to be measured is analyzed on the basis of the measured mass spectrum of the multivalent ionized element. By this constitution, various problems related to the analysis of an element in a conventional technique can be improved and this element analyzing method contributes to the development of various fields such as medical science, archaeology, environmental science or cosmophysics.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
