PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film evaluation method and a film evaluation apparatus whereby a characteristic of a diffusing film used in liquid crystal display elements, etc., can be correctly evaluated. ;SOLUTION: When a distance between a glass plate and a surface light source is set to be 0 mm, an image of one of slits on the surface light source is picked up through a work and image data is analyzed (S11-S13). With the distance being sequentially changed to 10 mm, 30 mm, the analysis is carried out in the same manner and a breadth magnification is calculated on the basis of the analysis result (S14-S18). Since the surface light source, slit and glass plate correspond to a light source, a liquid crystal cell and a color filter of a liquid crystal display element, an optical characteristic of the work on the liquid crystal display element can be obtained remarkably correctly.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
