PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pitch name notation method and device, a tonality judging method, etc., which can discriminate heteronymous homophony, etc., by providing an interval digitizing method for providing a numeral describing a musically correct interval as to musical sound information. ;SOLUTION: When intervals for assigning mathematically meaningful numerals to respective sounds in response to data showing the interval of musical sound is digitized, numerals are assigned to the pitch names of respective keys so that numerals assigned to respective 12 keys constituting one octave are repeated in 12-key units according to a certain rule and two numerals which become congruent modulo 12 are given to heteronymous homophony. Those assigned numerals are used to analyze the relation with the sound right behind the heteronymous homophony as a derivative sound given # and b and also analyze the relation with other sounds constituting a chord in case of the chord, thereby giving a musically correct and proper pitch name.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
