PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new bioactive substance having strong propagation suppressing activity against cancer cell without problem of toxicity or resistance, etc., by culturing a microorganism belonging to genus Streptomyces and producing bioactive substances NA22598 A1-A5. SOLUTION: These new bioactive substances NA22598s have each molecular formula of A1: C20 H38 N8 O7 , A2: C23 H43 N9 O8 , A3:C24 H45 N9 O8 , A4: C22 H42 N8 O7 and A5: C21 H40 N8 O7 , all colorless powder, readily soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide or water, soluble in methanol, insoluble in hexane or chloroform, color reactions of positive to each reaction of ninhydrin, phosphomolybdic acid sulfate or Ehrlich's reaction and negative to each reaction of vanillin sulfate and iodine, a melting point in a range of 190-210 deg.C. Each of the compounds is obtained by culturing Streptomyces sp. NA22598 strain (FERM P-14686) belonging to genus Streptomyces and capable of producing bioactive substances NA22598 A1-A5, collecting product from the cultured substance and dividing by a high- performance liquid chromatography.
