PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for positioning a work which cope with bending having smaller dimension of the bottom part of bend of a metal sheet and bending of the work having high height of bend and is excellent in the property of carrying-out after bending.;SOLUTION: In the method of positioning the work in a metal sheet bending machine in which the work is clamped with the lower die 4 and the pressing die 5 and bent from the behind with a blade, the work is inserted between the lower die and the pressing die from the front of a work inserting/clamping means. After clamping one end of the work inserted from the back of the lower die and the pressing die by a positioning/clamping means 10, the above work inserting/clamping means is released and retreated from the work and the work is positioned in the working position of the work by the positioning/clamping means.
