PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for a vehicle, in which a pre-reading process of a time corresponding to the inter-edge pulse width of the latest pulse signal is executed by using a time corresponding to the inter-edge pulse width of the oldest signal among a series of pulse signals that are used for calculating a vehicle speed or the revolution of the motor of the vehicle, in order to secure the smooth swinging move of the needle of the instrument.;SOLUTION: When respective 8 inter-edge pulse widths become longer in the order of the oldest one of ΔA0 to the latest one of ΔA7 to satisfy the deceleration condition of the vehicle speed, and a condition that a time passed from the raise-down period of the latest vehicle speed pulse signal A is larger than a pre-reading time is satisfied, the pre-reading time being sum of a time βcorresponding to the oldest inter-edge pulse width ΔA0 and a vehicle speed value instruction rewriting time of 20 ms (=γ), the average of the sum of respective pulse time corresponding to each inter-edge pulse width ΔA1 to ΔA7 and the pre-reading time is used to satisfy a pre-reading condition, with which the needle is swung via a step motor.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
