PURPOSE:To acquire a solution having a large fitness value on the stage of a small generation value for a large scale and complicated problem by using a genetic algorithm concerning a problem solving arithmetic unit introducing the concept of state transition by which the search of the optimum solution is accelerated by introducing the concept of state transition between plural searching states including combined plural optimum solution searching methods. CONSTITUTION:This unit is composed of plural sets of optimum solution searching means 1 each searching the optimum solution in the state of using one or more optimum solution searching means in combination and a search process observing and state transiting means 2 for observing the searching process of the optimum solution due to one of the optimum solution searching means 1 and for transiting the state to the search by the other one of the plural optimum solution searching means 1 when previously decided conditions are satisfied in that searching process.
