PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent crystallization of a solution in a heating operation as well. SOLUTION: This steam driven type double effect absorption water cooler- heater is equipped with a high-temperature regenerator 1A, a low-temperature regenerator 1B, a condenser 2, an evaporator 3 and an absorber 4. These units are connected by piping for operation and use a water solution of a salt as an absorbing agent. A drain cooler 16 for cooling drainage produced in the high-temperature regenerator and drain piping 15B bypassing the drain cooler are provided. Moreover, valves 20D and 20E controlling inflow of the drainage into the drain cooler are disposed between the drain cooler and the high- temperature regenerator.
