PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide carbonized raw material for novel-structured building materials and the like and a novel method of manufacturing the same, which can convert cellulosic fiber body such as old paper sheets, waste, bark, or chaff and straw which are agricultural by-products into raw material with ease, at very low cost and effectively.;SOLUTION: This carbonized raw material for building materials and the like comprises carbonized raw material which is made in such a way that a cellulosic fiber body impregnated with liquid additive comprising either phosphorus compound such as phosphoric acid or mixture thereof is heated at a temperature ranging from 65 to 400°C, or if possible, 80 to 300°C, under active atmosphere for required time according to the concentration of the liquid additive, and carbonized residue is increased by promoting dehydration and carbonization while restricting the flammable gas generation caused by heating and flame until the weight reduction rate of it becomes at least a little over 40%.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
