PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a metal copper catalyst for synthesizing organohalosilane having large strain energy and comprising a thermally active metal copper powder. ;SOLUTION: By using a highly active copper catalyst having large internal strain energy, an activating time required until a steady state is obtained having being a problem in reaction for allowing a metal silicon powder to directly act on organohalide to synthesize corresponding organoholosilane is shortened and selectivity can be improved in the steady state and the yield of silicon can be enhanced. Since the copper catalyst is important, it is industrially used heretofore after the activity thereof is evaluated by separately executing a test by actually using the same as a reaction catalyst but this roundabout process problem can be also solved.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
