PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To position a steel pipe column in a horizontal direction by inserting a rod member erected inside the steel pipe column into a guide member attached to the lower end portion of the steel pipe column and adjusting the inserting position until the tip portion of the rod member penetrates a top opening of the guide member. ;SOLUTION: When a first stage concrete 3 is poured to the inside of the steel pipe, the lower portion of a round rod member 4 is embedded, and it is erected vertically in such a manner that a length larger than the diameter of a steel pipe column to be inserted later can project out above the upper portion of the concrete 3. On the other hand, at the lower end portion of the steel pipe column 2, a guide member 5 comprising a conical steel plate having a top opening 6 slightly larger than the diameter of the rod member 4 at the top and having a lower portion opening 7 almost the same as the diameter of the steel pipe column at the lower portion is installed in such a manner that the center position of the top opening 6 coincides with the center position of installed steel pipe column 2. The steel pipe column 2 attached with the guide member 5 is inserted to the steel pipe pile 1 by a length corresponding to the height position of the installation of steel pipe column 2 until the top of the rod member 4 projects out from the opening 6 of the top.
