The invention relates to novel IIb/IIIa cell adhesion inhibitors with the general formula X - Y wherein X is a specific IIb/IIIa determinant which does not attribute considerable VLA-4 activity, and Y includes an integrine skeleton produced by VLA-4 inhibitor. The compounds are useful for the inhibition and prevention of cellular adhesion and pathological conditions, the mediator of which is cellular adhesion. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical formulations comprising these compounds and to their use for the preparation of a medicamentous means for inhibition and prevention of cellular adhesion and pathologies to which it is a mediator. The compounds and the pharmaceutical composition of this invention can be used as therapeutic or prophylactic agents. They are particularly well suited for treatment of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
