摘要
Described is the obtention of an aluminum (IIIA)-based alloy including elements from the IIA (magnesium), IIB (zinc), and IB (copper) groups as alloys, the inventive alloy being Hg and/or In-free. The Al-Zn(IIB)-Mg(IIA)-Cu(IB) alloy which acts as a sacrificial anode is electrically connected to a metallic structure or cathode for avoiding corrosion during an extended period of time, thereby accomplishing the main requirements to be used as a sacrificial anode. The development of an alloy that has cathodic protective properties and a high working effectiveness is based on the need to avoid the corrosion of steel-based metallic structures located in marine environments, and maintain marine water and its environment (flora and fauna) clean.
