The present invention refers to a compound based on mineral salts which results in a natural waterproofing composition having chemical compounds that generate an anionic-cationic exchange with soil compounds, such as silica and alumina, by means of adsorption. The structure of the soil is also modified by said chemical exchange, thereby obtaining a stabilized soil having a lower plastic index, a higher and improved compaction, a stability overcoming the indexes established by the corresponding standards, and a permeability equal to or lower than that required by the NOM-083-SEMARNAT-2003 of 1 x 10-7 cm/s. The invention further includes a process for the formation of waterproof barriers in soils using the present product.
