The forward drive wind mill makes maximum use of wind energy with minimal untoward horizon effect and offers relatively low operating costs. The wind catchment is by means of a vertically positioned, spaciously dimensioned, converging deepened sail (1), possibly composed of lamellas and provided in the lower angles with partitions which are adjustable. The sail upper angles wholly or partially enclose the underside of a booster (4). In this way, in the throat (5) of the booster there is an acceleration of the air flow. The wind loader rotating in it delivers an amount of energy which is a multiple of a conventional windmill of any known type. The installation automatically aligns itself to the wind and can also be used in storm force conditions, by virtue of the relatively short length of the sails.
