A lining of thermally conductive open-cell metal foam (3) is connected to a heat conducting pipe (2) through the external side of pipe through which a secondary medium surrounding the pipe is fed. The number of pores per inch (ppi) of open-cell metal foam lies between 2 and 20. The thickness of open-cell metal foam lies between 5 and 50 millimeters. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a motorized transport device; (B) a use of a heat exchanger; (C) a method of using a heat exchanger; and (D) a method of producing a heat exchanger.
