Characters are secured to a sheet from using hook and loop fastener tape, which can be rolled around two rods to form a board. An education board comprises a sheet and individual characters such as letters which are both provided with cooperating hook and loop fastener tape, e.g. Velcro, so that the characters can be releasably secured to the fabric. This sheet can be formed by a bedding item, curtain, lampshade, pyjama bag or toy bag. By extending or rolling opposite ends of the sheet around two rods a board is formed. The sheet can be drawn or painted on.
