A material is made to flow through the pile (3) so that it flows out of the bottom end and forms a pile supporting region (8) underneath the pile after is has set. A workspace is created above the existing foundation (4) and a hole is then sunk vertically in this area so that it passes through the foundation. Pile driving machinery is set up in the workspace and used to sink a pile in the hole. The workspace is preferably in a cavity (1a) in one of the building walls (1). An independent claim is also included for the foundation pile used to carry out this method, which has an injection device next to its bottom end.
