The invention relates to a process for the purification of uranium by extraction with tri-N-butylphosphtae. The process comprises the following steps: a) conditioning the uranyl azotate solution; b) selectively extracting the uranium with an organic solvent; c) washing the organic phase; d) extracting the uranium in the aqueous phase and e) regenerating the organic solvent.
