Antimicrobial composition and its use for treatment of herpex simplex virus diseases and other infectious diseases

Described is a composition comprising from 2 % to 90 % phytochemical concentrate of Echinacea purpurea and from 0.005 % to 0.8 % benzalkonium chloride. The phytochemical concentrate comprises phytochemicals comprising by weight based upon the total weight of the composition: from 0.3 % to 9 % echinacoside; from 0.1 % to 7 % PSI (4-O-methylglucoronarabinoxylan, Mr 35 kD); from 0.1 % to 10 % cynarin (1,5-di-o-caffeoylquinic acid) and chicoric acid (2,3-O-di-caffeoyltartaric acid) and derivates thereof; from 0.2 % to 4 % echinolone; from 0.2 % to 8 % echinacin B; from 0.1 % to 6 % echinaceine; from 2 % to 7 % anthonocyanins comprising cyanidin 3-O-B-D-glucopyranoside and 3-O-(6-O-malonyl)-B-D-glucopyranoside; from 0.01 % to 0.06 % pyrrolizidine alkaloids comprising tussilagine and isotussilagine; from 0.003 % to 0.009 % isomeric dodeca isobutylamides and tetroenoic acid; and from 0.01 % to 2 % caryophylenes. Further, there is described the use of the composition for the manufacture of a medicament for quick and secure elimination of herpes virus and other microbial infectious diseases.
