METHOD FOR ASSESSING TISSUE VIABILITY IN PATIENTS WITH PYO-NECROTIC LESIONS OF DIABETIC FOOT

The method for assessing the tissue viability in the patients with pyo-necrotic lesions of diabetic foot comprises the measurements of electric impedance of the tissues with the aid of ohmmeter using two electrodes. One electrode is applied to the hip of the leg to be examines, while the other electrode is inserted at the depth of 5 mm to the area of the tissues where the viability is questionable. The measurements of the symmetrical areas of the healthy limb are performed as the control. The impedance ratio in affected and healthy limbs exceeding 2:1 is indicative of non-viability of the tissues under examination. When the specific conductivity ratio in affected and healthy limbs is not less than 1.5:1, the tissues are regarded as the viable ones.
