METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING GLUCOCORTICOID FUNCTION OF ADRENAL CORTEX IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC HEART FAILURE

The method for diagnosing the glucocorticoid function of the adrenal cortex in the patients with the chronic heart failure comprises the administration of alpha-adrenoblocker and the estimation of the arterial blood pressure (AP) prior to and after administration of alpha-adrenoblocker. Prazozin is used as alpha-adrenoblocker. In addition, the heart rate (HR) is assessed. The absence of the significant AP and HR changes upon the administration of Prazozin points to the increased function of the adrenal cortex, while the HR increase with abrupt AP decrease is suggestive of the insufficient function of the adrenal cortex.
