NAKHABA'S METHOD FOR RESECTION SURGICAL TREATMENT OF COMATOSE CONDITIONS WITH ACCOMPANYING INTRACRANIAL PRESSURE INCREASE AND BRAIN STEM COMPRESSION

摘要

The method for the resection surgical treatment of the comatose conditions with accompanying increase in the intracranial pressure and the brain stem compression consists in resection trepanation of the occipital bone within the first hours after the development of the comatose condition when the conservative treatment turns out to be ineffective and the increasing impairment of the vital functions becomes evident. Upon the resection trepanation of the occipital bone, through the cranial defect 7x6 cm is size the dura mater of brain is linearly dissected along the sagittal line followed by the closure of the defect by the rhomboid flap of fascia lata providing for the decompression of subtentorial space and the brain stem, whichever is the pathology causing the brain stem compression.
