A method to determine the potato resistance to the canker pathogen Synchytrium endobioticum (Schilb) Perc. includes infestation of potato shoots by summer zoosporangia of the disease pathogen and analysis thereof. Specimens of the infected potato shoots are placed into a cell and analyzed on an infrared analyzer using an analytical wave length of 1510 nm. A degree of the canker resistance of the potato shoots is determined.
