METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE ULTIMATE STRENGTH OF WOOD WHEN SPLITTING THE WOOD ACROSS GRAINS

The proposed method for determining the ultimate strength of wood when splitting the wood across grains is distinctive by using a clamp consisting of two L-shaped sections that form an opening. The dimensions of the opening are equal to the dimensions of the wood sample. The sample is fixed in the opening. The splitting of the sample occurs under action of tangential stresses when force is applied to the upper section of the clamp in the direction that is parallel to the expected plane of the splitting.
