A method for implementation of surge test for centrifugal compressor of gas-pumping unit including centrifugal compressor of gas-pumping unit operating in mode of constant frequency of rotation and loaded to controlled throttle provides for the identification of surge threshold of centrifugal compressor at gradual increase of throttle resistance by simultaneous decrease of pressure fall on centrifugal compressor and pressure fall on the restriction installed at the inlet of the centrifugal compressor. Before that, with control of throttle resistance, one provides on the working section of the discharge-head characteristic several stable modes of centrifugal compressor, in each of those one registers the values of discharge q calculated for the restriction and parameter ? that is functionally connected with the counter moment of the centrifugal compressor. For a set of received discharge values q1, q2, ..., qk and parameter ?1, ?2, ..., ?k one calculates coefficients of approximation function q=F(?) and having used extrapolation of the function q=F(?) to value ?pom, corresponding to surge threshold of characteristic of centrifugal compressor one calculates the value of discharge qn on surge threshold and uses qn to calculate distance of working point of centrifugal compressor from surge threshold.
