METHOD FOR IMPROVING MECHANICAL AND OTHER PROPERTIES OF WOOD AND WOOD PRODUCTS TREATED BY SULPHURE AND CHROMIUM COMPOUNDS

Method for improving mechanical and other properties of wood and wood products treated by sulfur and chromium compounds, where at the first stage, wood is treated by acid dichromate solution, dried, and at the second stage, it is treated with sulfur melt, thereby significantly improving its specific weight and hardness, and thus significantly increasing its resistance to water effect. Authors consider industrial modification as the best application of the invention (depending on the purity of required chemicals and set of instruments) in the description of the mentioned method, i.e. its (laboratory) optimal parameter, which involves treatment of wood by 5 % dichromate solution where its pH is, by adding the sulfuric acid, adjusted at 1, during 240 minutes, of drying at 110øC, during 240 minutes, and treatment by sulfur melt, at 140øC, during 120 minutes.;Postupak za poboljanje mehanikih i drugih svojstava drveta i drvnih preraevina dejstvom jedinjenja hroma i sumpora, gde se u prvom stepenu drvo tretira kiselim rastvorom dihromata, sui, pa u drugom stepenu tretira rastopom sumpora, ime drvo znatno dobija na specifinoj teini i vrstoi, a pri emu se znatno poveava i otpornost na dejstvo vode.
