RAMP TYPE FREQUENCY MODULATION PULSED RADAR, WITH HIGH RANGE RESOLUTION

The present invention concerns a frequency modulated pulseradar based on modulation ramps. The radar analyses the range profile of a target from a train of Npulses transmitted to this target, the signal of each pulse being frequencymodulated according to a ramp (21, 22, 23), the ramps being frequency-shifted from one pulse to another. Each pulse signal reflected by the target isdemodulated by its corresponding ramp then sampled. The range analysis iscarried out by spectral analysis of the signal represented by the series ofsamples obtained by concatenation of the N sample signals. The invention particularly applies to improve the range resolutionof such radar.
