A degree of fiber concentration in pulp inside a machine is measured by measuring impedance between rotor (3) surface and sensor surface (18) during axial movement of impedance meter body, and using measured impedance differences together with size of movement to determine dielectric constant of pulp, from which the degree of fiber concentration of the pulp is derived.
