Solo-driven wheelchair propelled using wheels or solely using swingable hand grips has maneouvreable wheels connected independently of each other to shaft enabling a differing revolution rate to effect a change in direction
Wheelchair can be moved either using two tyres on wheels or solely using swingable hand grips on which torques are exercised in the direction of their swinging motion. Torque is conveyed via a joint rod (13,15) and crank shaft (14) on each hand grip respectively and combined and rectified, translated by a cycle drive (18,18d) with gears (19 etc), and transmitted by a chain drive (16,20) and a clutch (21) to a shaft connected to two manoeuvreable wheels (25,28). Each wheel is connected to the shaft via a free-wheel coupling (24,27) which means that each wheel is independent of the other. This enables a differing revolution to effect a change in the wheelchair's direction without changing its postition on the frame. A brake on the hand grip enables the wheelchair to be steered and stopped.
