Floor covering, consisting of hard floor panels (1) that at least two opposite edges (2-3, 26-27) are provided with joining parts (4-5, 28-29) cooperating with each other, substantially in the form of a tongue (9-31) and a groove (10-32), whereby the connecting parts (4-5, 28-29) are provided with mechanical locking means (6), whose means of joining and coupling means prevent the separation of two coupled floor panels (1) in a direction (R) perpendicular to the related edges (2-3, 26-27) and parallel to the bottom face (7) of said coupled panels (1) characterized in that said floor panels (1) show the following characteristics: - floor panels (1) are rectangular laminated floor panels (1); - the connecting parts as defined above are provided in all four corners; - that the joining parts (4-5, 28-29) and the joining means are made in one piece with the flooring panels (1) themselves, more particularly in one piece with the core (8) of the flooring panels (1); and - that said groove in its lower face is limited by an edge, more particularly a lower edge (23-43), whose edge in its full thickness is structurally made of the material of the floor panel itself.
