A method for installing a monitoring device (14, 214) in the inner lining (12, 202) of a tire (8, 204) comprising these steps: providing a monitoring device (14, 214) having a first element connection (26, 36, 102, 104, 224, 232); provide a patch (16, 210) separate from the monitoring device (14, 214); the patch (16, 210) containing an antenna (34, 216) connected to a second connection element (26, 36, 102, 104, 224, 232); the antenna (34, 216) being completely inside the patch (16, 210); mount the monitoring device (14, 214) on patch 16; connect the first and second connection elements (26, 36, 102, 104, 232) to create a physical and direct electrical connection between the antenna (34, 216) and the monitoring device (14, 214); and mount the patch (16, 210) on the inner lining (12, 202).
