A method for assaying compounds for their binding properties to a target biomolecule, which method comprises: i) generating a spectrum of two-dimensional double-quantum protonic or spectrum double as weighted DQC relaxation (coherence double as) a solution comprising one or more chemical molecules containing at least two doublets; ii) generating a two-dimensional double-quantum spectrum or a spectrum of proton double-quantum DQC relaxation weighted of the above solution further comprising the target biomolecule; iii) comparing spectrum in (i) with spectrum in (ii) to detect any differences that identify the presence of one or more chemical molecules that bind to the target biomolecule, and wherein the spectrum double as protonic bidimensional is refocused or not.
