A method of preparing a poly-a-olefin comprising polymerizing a monomer to olefin using a catalyst system comprising (a) a catalyst having the formula (See formula) wherein Y is O, S, NR (See formula) each R is independently selected from hydrogen or C1 to C6 alkyl, M is titanium, zirconium or hafnium, each X is independently selected from halogen, C1 to C6, C1 to C6 alkoxy, or (see formula) L it is X, cyclopentadienyl, C1 to C6 alkyl substituted cyclopentadienyl, indenyl, fluorenyl, or (see formula) each r, is independently selected from R, C1 to C6 alkoxy, C6 to C16 aryl, halogen or CF3; and "n" is 1 to 4. and (b) a cocatalyst selected from the group consisting of methylaluminoxane (MAO), polymethylaluminoxane (PMAO) and acid salts inert noncoordinating anions.
