A method for disinfecting a surface comprising applying to said surface a concentrated biocide active bromine-containing formed from (a) liquid composition of bromine or alkali metal dichlorohypobromite chloride and (b) an aqueous solution of alkali metal salt of sulfamic acid having a pH of at least 7, in amounts such that (i) the active bromine content of said composition is at least about 100,000 ppm (wt / wt) and (ii) when (a) is bromine chloride, the atomic ratio of nitrogen to active bromine in said composition is greater than 0, 93, and, when (a) is alkali metal dichlorohypobromite, the atom ratio of nitrogen to active bromine in said composition is greater than 1, wherein said surface it is a kitchen counter, a granite bathroom, a wall or a floor and wherein said application to said surface is by pouring, spraying or applying with an applicator.
